Who can register for SAA Youth?

Residents of the Village of Schaumburg, Schaumburg Township or Schaumburg Park District. Residents from surrounding areas are welcomed and will be accepted in accordance with the SAA Bylaws.

 

Other SAA sports sign up kindergarten players, does basketball?

No. Basketball does not have kindergarten players.

 

What grades are able to sign up to play basketball?

Boys and girls from 1st through 12th grade.

When does basketball registration begin?

Basketball registration begins at the end of the summer, typically between July to August.

How much does registration cost?

Basketball registration for 1st through 8th grade leagues cost $165, and $140 for our high school league. A $25 late fee is added after the deadline date, and players can possibly be added to a waitlist.

When does basketball practice begin?

Practices for 1st through 8th grade leagues will begin in November. The high school league does not have practices.

When do games begin?

Games for 1st through 8th grade leagues will begin in December. The high school league starts after the New Year.

When does the season end?

The basketball season generally ends mid-March for the competitive league (5th through 8th grade) and the high school league. It typically ends toward the end of February for the instructional league (1st through 4th grade)

Where are practices and games held?

Practices and games may be held in School District 54, Township High School District 211, Schaumburg Park District Sports Center and/or Harper College gyms.

What time and how often will practices be?

Weekday practices can start as early as 6:15pm, with the last practice starting at 8:30pm. Teams in the 1st through 8th grade leagues will practice twice during the weekday and once on Saturdays prior to the first game. After games start, practices will drop to once during the weekday only. No practices for the high school league.

What time and how often will games be?

All Friday games will either be 6:30pm, 7:30pm or 8:30pm. All Saturday games can vary between 10:00am up through 8:00pm. Teams in the 1st through 8th grade leagues may play two games between Friday and Saturday. The high school league will play 9 to 10 games on Sundays only and will either be 6:00pm, 7:00pm or 8:00pm. 

What will SAA Basketball provide for the players?

SAA will provide a uniform for all players.

How does someone sign up to coach and how are coaches assigned?

Registration for a basketball coach is completed by going to the Sports Pilot website, and creating an online account (if not already created). Click on this link to go to the site: https://leagues.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1166486&is. Coaches are selected by each league commissioner. (Note: coaching a team the prior season DOES NOT guarantee a team for the following season)

What will SAA Basketball provide for the coaches?

SAA MAY provide a t-shirt for all coaches, based on the budget.

Can I get a refund if my son/daughter can no longer play?

Our goal is to accommodate as best we can to any unforeseen changes that occur within the family.  Please note that the SAA season does not conflict with the Junior High School basketball schedule and the Feeder tryouts will be completed prior to SAA registration closing.
