Who can register for SAA Youth?

• Residents of the Village Schaumburg or Schaumburg Township

• Residents of Schaumburg Park District

• Residents from surrounding areas are welcome and will be accepted in accordance with the SAA Bylaws.

 

Other SAA sports sign up kindergarten players, does basketball?

No. Basketball does not have kindergarten players.

 

What grades are able to sign up to play basketball?

Boys -  1st through 12th grade.

Girls - 1st through 8th grade.

When does basketball registration begin?

Basketball registration typically begins on August 1st.

How much does registration cost?

$165 for 1st through 8th grade leagues  

$140 for High School leagues.

When does basketball practice begin?

1st through 8th grade leagues will begin in November.

High School leagues do not have practices.

When do games begin?

1st through 8th grade leagues will begin in December.

 High School leagues start in January.

When does the season end?

Instructional leagues (1st through 4th grade) end early March.

The competitive leagues (5th through 8th grade) and the High School Leagues end the weekend before spring break.

Where are practices and games held?

All games and practices will be held District #54, District #211, Schaumburg Park District facilities and/or other facilities approved by the board.

What time and how often will practices be?

Weekday practices can start as early as 6:30 PM, with the last practice starting at 8:30 PM. 

1st through 8th grade leagues will practice once during the week and once on Saturdays prior to the first game. After games start, practices will drop to once during the week only.

High School leagues do not hold practices.

What time and when will games be played?

Friday games will begin at 6:15 PM and end no later than 10:00 PM. Only 3rd - 8th may play on Friday nights.

Saturday games can begin at 9:00 AM and end no later than 10:00 PM. 1st - 8th play on Saturday.

High School leagues will play on Sundays at 6:00 PM, 7:00 PM and 8:00 PM. 

What will SAA Basketball provide for the players?

1st through 8th grade leagues will receive a uniform consisting of a shirt and shorts

High School Leagues will receive a shirt.

How does someone sign up to coach and how are coaches assigned?

Registration to be a basketball coach is completed by going to the Blue Sombrero website and creating an online account (if not already created). Click on this link to go to the site: https://leagues.bluesombrero.com/Default.aspx?tabid=1166486&is. 

Coaches are selected by each league commissioner. (Note: coaching a team the prior season DOES NOT guarantee a team for the following season)

What will SAA Basketball provide for the coaches?

SAA may provide a shirt for all coaches.
