Rec Baseball:

Our 2015 season is underway with practices beginning this week. Thanks to all of the commissioners and volunteers that helped get our season underway.

For the 2nd year in a row the varsity baseball coaches and players from our local high schools spent two hours with about 50 of our coaches teaching them fundamentals and drills to take back to their team. Thanks to Derek Fivelson (Conant), Cal Seely (Schaumburg), and Todd Meador (Hoffman Estates) for all of their efforts.

On March 22 almost 200 SAA baseball players participated in our annual players clinic hosted by Dino Moran and 3D Baseball. Leagues spent 2 hours running through various stations focused on hitting, fielding, and throwing. Special thanks to Rosarios Pizza (771 Nerge Rd in Roselle) for donating pizza to all of our volunteers!

Important dates in April include Picture Day (4/18) and Opening Day (4/25).

Recreational Soccer

Welcome to spring soccer!

I know it hasn’t felt very much like spring yet, but it will, any day now!

Spring means it’s time for some outdoor soccer! Practices are now underway, and the first games are the weekend of April 11-12. Just a couple reminders for the season: please make sure your child is dressed appropriately for the weather both for games and practices; please make sure you let your coach know if your child is going to miss a game or practice so they can plan accordingly; and please remember this is a game and these are children, including the majority of the referee’s.

Chicago Fire Outing June 6th!

Mark your calendars; we are going back to Toyota Park on June 6th for SAA Soccer Night at the Chicago Fire! Bring the whole family out to see the Fire take on the new Orlando City soccer club featuring Brazilian star Kaka! Registration will be opening soon, keep an eye on the SAA soccer page atwww.saa-online.com . Last year we had 160 people come out and the kids got to play a mini game on the field before the game, if we get that many again the kids will likely be playing on the field at the halftime break this time! It will be a great match and it was a lot of fun last year, so please join us again!

Help Wanted!

Do you really like the game of soccer, or want to be a part of a great organization helping your and the community’s kids? Why not consider joining the SAA Recreational Soccer Board? We have openings for people that would like to be a part of a dynamic, fun organization to help us run and improve our program! Contact me at bldeagle1@aol.com for details of what is required and how you can come check it out for yourself!

We will see you all soon!
