SCHAUMBURG FLYERS TRAVEL BASEBALL

How are Players Selected?

The players are selected following a try-out process held mid/late July each year. Check the web site "tryouts" tab for exact dates and times each season. SAA will attempt to field at least one U8 & U9 team and also two or more competitive teams at each age groups: U10, U11, U12, U13, 14U, 15U.

There are no residency requirements for any Schaumburg Flyer teams. We encourage families and players from within the local area to tryout regardless of residency.  Please contact the Head Commissioner for further details.

Flyers baseball commitment and dedication.

Teams are formed in late July/early August the year before.  For example, 2024 tryouts will be held in July of 2023.  Teams generally participate in a fall travel league and conduct practices in the fall.  Winter indoor training begins in early January and runs through the end of March.  Games and tournaments typically begin April 1st and run through mid July. Our teams play in multiple leagues in the area seeking out the toughest competition possible. Most of our teams travel outside the state at least once a year to participate with National competition.

Teams generally practice and or play games 1-2 days a week during the fall and 1-2 days a week during the winter. Teams typically have three or more games and practices per week during April and May and five or more games and practices per week during the June and July tournament season.

We provide two levels of competition at each age group. Our “A” level or Blue teams shoot to compete at the highest level possible in state and national leagues and tournaments. Our “B” level or Orange & White teams, shoot to compete in competitive leagues and tournaments while advancing towards the “A” level each year.

Playing on a travel team is a major commitment for the player and the family. All players are expected to attend all games and practices as scheduled by the team head coach.

If you have any questions about the SAA Travel Baseball Program please contact the head commissioner, or the coach for your son’s age group for more details.
