As you know, this season has been challenging to say the least. I want to thank you all for your patience and understanding, as we navigate these unprecedented times. The Rec Baseball Board has been meeting virtually and discussing possible season scenarios with each new announcement from our governmental leaders. At this time, the Rec Baseball Board has decided that it is best to cancel the 2020 Spring Baseball season. This was not an easy decision. While we were holding out hope as long as possible, the reasons only continued to mount against our desire to be out on the fields together this Spring. Thanks to those of you who reached out with your input. Needless to say, we are all deeply disappointed to miss the Spring season and hope to resume baseball activities as soon as possible. When Rec Baseball does resume, we look forward to being with you all!
Along with the decision to cancel, we will be issuing refunds to those who choose not to play again this year for health or other reasons. We hope to have this process completed before the end of the month. As Rec Baseball has incurred some costs already, both at the league level and at the SAA organization level, we will be withholding a nominal $10 fee to recover some of these season start-up costs. This fee is less than our standard refund fee, as we are well aware that this is a unique circumstance.
As an alternative, we’d like to offer our families the opportunity to leave their registration fees with us for use in a future Rec Baseball season. By doing so, you will not only save the $10 fee, but also potentially lock in Spring 2020 pricing for next year. Furthermore, you will assist us in avoiding any cash flow issues that might be caused by an across the board refund approach.
If you wish to leave your Spring 2020 registration fees with us, please use the link we provided to you by e-mail to indicate your desire to do so. Please respond by 5/22/20. Otherwise, your refund will be processed as indicated above. I am sure this will be a major undertaking for our office staff, as they work across the multiple Spring sport offerings of SAA. Therefore, we ask again for your patience and cooperation.
As far as the future goes, we hope to open registration for our next season as soon as it makes sense to do so. At this point, we can only guess when this might take place. Given the Governor's reopening plan, it looks like Phase 4 will be our first opportunity to resume play. Unfortunately, we can’t put dates to any of this. We will also have to wait and see what exactly our next baseball season will look like under the health guidelines and capacity limitations in place at that time.
The Rec Baseball Board will continue to prepare for the next season with both safety and excitement in mind. Ideally, we’d like to create an outstanding baseball experience for everyone during the late summer/fall. I hope that happens and that you will be able to join us!
Please note, if you are registered for our N60 program, we will reach out to you separately with further details.
If anyone has questions regarding our cancellation decision, additional donations or the financial impact of the current situation on our program, please feel free to e-mail me. This our league, together.
Sincerely and On behalf of the Rec Baseball Board,
SAA Rec Baseball, Head Commissioner

SAA In-House baseball is an instructional league for the purpose of learning the game and having fun. All players are taught the baseball skills to play the game and encouraged to try all positions. Sportsmanship and fair play are the hallmarks of our league, with all players an equal team member.
The year begins with player evaluations where coaches observe your son or daughter in basic baseball skills. Players are then selected and placed in teams, attempting to make the teams as even and fair as possible. League standings are not kept, which removes pressure from everyone involved to "win at all costs". This allows all players to try every position with the confidence to know they are simply playing a game to have fun. At the end of the regular season is an all-star celebration weekend, with players selected by their peers not only for their ability, but for their teamwork and spirit. Finally, for the older players, the season ends with playoffs and a league champion.
Besides the regular in-house leagues, we sponsor Tournament teams at some levels which give players exposure to a more competitive game. Additional Tournament Team information is available here.
For competitive Travel baseball, please click the link in the main menu at the top of the page.
In-House leagues (kindergarten through 8th grade) are designed purely for the fun of playing a game. Players are instructed in the fundamentals of baseball and given every opportunity to play every position equally. Scores are not kept so that the players can enjoy the game without the pressure of winning or losing.
For a more competitive level, we have the All-Star Tournament Teams available starting at the 2nd grade (8u).
