The SAA Girls' Recreational Softball Program exists solely for the purpose of providing a wholesome summer activity for girls ages 5 through 19. As an essential part of this purpose, we are committed to the instruction of participants in the proper skills to play the game of softball and to the teaching and modeling of good sportsmanship. Please note our program uses and operates under the guidelines of the Schaumburg Athletic Association.
6U through 14U:
Teams are created based off the athletes performance during Player Evaluations held the first week of March of the given year. In addition to the Player Evaluations, an athletes school/area is considered in the team creation process for those athletes in the 6U and 8U leagues. For athletes in the 10U, 12U and 14U leagues, teams are created based on the performance of each athlete at the Player Evaluations.
Fast pitch rules have been established for the 8U, 10U, 12U and 14U and vary depending upon the league.
Player Evaluations are held for all leagues to assist the Softball Board in the team creation process and balancing teams for a more enjoyable experience. Players will be notified by email of specific date/time/location for evaluations.
Team Placement Notification typically occurs in the 2nd week of March. The Team Managers will contact players via email or phone after team assignments are completed. If you fail to hear from a team Manager by the 2nd week of March, please contact the League Commissioner.
High School:
Team Managers will be getting their rosters mid-April so you can expect a call in the last week of April. Practices do not begin until mid-May with the first games starting in June. Note, per the IHSA, if you are playing softball for your high school, you cannot participate in practices for the SAA Rec Softball Program until you are finished with the high school team. The High School (Senior) league starts after high school is complete to encourage girls to participate in the senior league over the summer.
